School Year 2008-2009
We are in our fifth year of on demand delivery of staff development. Instead of a set menu of courses for which you sign up individually, we are offering a wide range of professional development topics and inviting teachers to be active participants in planning their professional development within their own districts.
Getting Started:
Programs can be initiated by professional development teams, teacher unions, teacher groups, individual teachers and/or school district administrators working with teacher-driven initiatives or faculty study groups. All programs need the approval of the staff development leader within your district. A brochure of SETC professional development offerings has been delivered to you with an invitation to look over the topics and then view the full program descriptions here. Please click on the link below for a full catalog.

Instructional Coaching is a form of professional development that helps teachers self-reflect to make and implement goals with the purpose of refining their instructional craft. Both new and veteran teachers can use the resource of an instructional coach to further their effectiveness and satisfaction in the classroom. Instructional Coaching must be completely voluntary, completely confidential, and completely driven by the teacher's agenda. Suffolk's Edge Teacher Center has an instructional coach available for consultations as a long or short-term resource. If you are interested in finding out more about this resource, available to you at no cost, please contact cweintra@wsboces.org and/or the professional development leader of your district.
